Carly & Trevor are engaged!! YAY! 🎉💍😍 I'm SO happy for these two after 7 years of being together!
I'm going to start this blog post with a special announcement. This paragraph is for the GUYS that are planning to PROPOSE soon, please please pleaseeeee consider having a photographer hide in the bushes, a neighbor's porch, in the woods, Narnia, wherever they need to, to capture this incredible moment that your relationship has been building up to! You will cherish these photos for many many years and how cool would it be to have documentation of that perfect moment when she said yes?! You will NOT regret it, and you will definitely earn more fiancé points by adding this thoughtful touch to your proposal!
Just another quick thing, I LOVE shooting proposals and I will gladly hide in the bushes, a tree, the woods, a cave, someone's car, in a nearby window, behind a dumpster (ok, I'm going to trust that you get the point), with the BIGGEST smile on my face and probably tears in my eyes to capture this wonderful moment for you! *stepping off my soap box now* Back to this incredible night!
When Trevor texted me about finally popping the question to my freshman roommate, I was ECSTATIC! He told me that his plan was to go to Carly's parent's house and that Carly thought they were just meeting up with her parents and then going to dinner, just a casual Saturday night. Well, we did go to dinner, we just had a lot more people than Carly originally thought and a fancy ring to go on Carly's finger! 💍
It was a cold December evening and it had just gotten dark, I arrived at Carly's parent's house in Washington, PA and they gave me the go-ahead to hide on their neighbor's porch to capture this special moment that was going to happen on Carly's parent's porch! Picture this: me with all my camera gear ready to hop into action and our friend Rachel tucked onto the corner of the neighbor's porch making sure that when Carly arrived that she wouldn't see us or suspect anything! Our hearts were beating so fast, we were so nervous and excited! Did I mention that it was December? We were also freezing but it was SO worth it!
As Carly & Trevor were driving to her parent's house, Trevor gave Carly a letter to read as they pulled into the driveway. (They drove right past us without seeing us - yes!) After Carly was done reading the letter, they got out of Trevor's car and walked up onto the porch that was glistening with light-up snowflakes and there was even a Christmas wreath on the door, so perfect!
When they got to the center of the porch, Trevor told Carly that "Santa came early" as he pulled the ring box out of his coat pocket, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him! *internally sobbing at this point*
And of course, SHE SAID YES! After they shared a few emotional moments together, Trevor told Carly to look over to the neighbor's porch where Rachel and I were hiding (and grinning from ear to ear)! It was so dark that she couldn't see who it was, so she said "Is that Ashley?!?!" She ran over and hugged us and said that she couldn't believe this was happening!
She went to the door of her parent's house where her mom and dad greeted the newly engaged couple with the biggest hugs! The second part of the surprise was that their closest friends and parents were anxiously waiting and hiding inside for when she came inside! She had NO idea! Lots of hugs, tears, pictures, and special moments as everyone showed their love for Carly & Trev!
Then everyone went to dinner in honor of Carly & Trev getting ENGAGED! It was such a special night to celebrate these two and how far they've come in 7 years!
Trev, thank you for asking me to be a part of such a special celebration and monumental milestone in your relationship and I am so excited that I was able to be there to capture it! Love you both! 😍 Congratulations to the Future Mr. & Mrs. Jones! 💕
